About
Welcome to Melriches Coffeehouse, a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Vancouver's West End, precisely located at 1244 Davie St. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly service, this coffeehouse has become a beloved breakfast and lunch destination for locals and visitors alike.
Melriches stands out not just for its cozy ambiance but also for the rich community vibe it fosters. Renowned for its welcoming staff, including Julie and CJ, it’s a place where you can genuinely feel at home. Customers frequently express their affection for the “chill, boho” environment, making it the perfect spot to savor a cup of coffee while engaging with friends or simply unwinding with a good book.
The menu boasts a remarkable variety of options without overwhelming the senses. From hearty breakfast sandwiches to delightful quiches, every dish is crafted with care and presented beautifully. The coffee selection is equally impressive, featuring seasonal choices that perfectly complement the mouthwatering baked goods. The lavender coffee cake and coffee frappe have been particularly popular among patrons, who rave about their delightful flavors and quick service.
What truly sets Melriches apart is its strong connection to the community. The coffeehouse is a vibrant hub, especially within the LGBTQ community, creating an inclusive, friendly atmosphere that many find inviting. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet moment or looking to strike up a conversation, the warmth of fellow patrons enhances the experience.
Though the space may be small, it is rich in character. Customers love to sit at the window on a chilly day, surrounded by the café's eclectic decor, making it a cozy hideaway to catch up with friends. Just be prepared—it can be quite a popular spot, so seats may be limited during peak times.
If you haven’t yet visited Melriches Coffeehouse, you’re missing out on a unique culinary experience that's grounded in community spirit and delicious offerings. As a food reviewer at Foodjoyy, I can wholeheartedly recommend this charming establishment, where excellent coffee and delectable meals await to brighten up your day.
“ Been living in the West End for 6 years now and Melriches is still my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in all of Vancouver. It has such a chill, boho, community vibe to it. Julie, CJ and the whole gang are the absolute best people you could meet. The food is always spot on and is incredibly decent in price. Couldn't recommend any more! ”
“ Nice, cozy and small place. Having brunch, siting at the window in a cold day is a great experience. They have some books that you can look while enjoying the goods. Also is quiet, so it's a great place to go withh friends to catch up. I love the decoration and the nice staff. Be aware that, since is small, sometimes is hard to get a seat. ”
“ Super sweet staff and great treats! The coffee came out so fast and they have a good selection with reasonable prices. Loved the lavender coffee cake and the coffee frappe! :) ”
“ Very friendly and down-to-earth neighbourhood coffee shop. Order and pick up drinks at the counter, but they bring your food to your table. They have a variety of baked goods, desserts, sandwiches, and quiches to choose from in addition to a drink menu with lots of seasonal choices. The menu has nice variety without being overwhelming. Food is delicious and presentation is very appealing. ”
“ What really makes Melriches such a staple for Davie street is the mix of excellent customer service and outstanding fellow patrons. Because this is such a hot spot for the LGBTQ community, the people surrounding you while you sit and enjoy your cup of coffee and delightful meals, are always so friendly and vibrant. This may not be the most 'instagrammable' experience in terms of decor, but the feeling you get that this place serves, is top notch. I would like to come back to take photos of their other menu items because I don't feel like my pics are doing this place justice. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place if you're new to the city, are not afraid to be open minded with your company, and enjoy striking up a conversation with a stranger ”
“ Melriches has a lot of character. Very artsy and cozy. It even has a library. Local artists are showcased on the walls. I usually just have coffee and a croissant, which are both good. But there are a lot of other food options. There is also seating outside, both front and back. WiFi is good. Staff are down to earth and friendly. ”
“ I come there every couple days. Always great coffee and bakery. I also recommend taking coffee beans from them. You can ask to grind them for your coffee machine or drip coffee maker. If you bring your own coffee bag or container you'll get a discount. Recommend it! ”
“ This place has been around for over 30 years and it’s my go to place whenever I’m in Vancouver. The menu offers the usual selection of breakfast and lunch favorites. It also offers gluten free options. Good coffee and excellent service combined with a laid back atmosphere of a neighborhood coffee shop. ”
